With gun violence on the rise, a local Owensboro group is meeting Monday to find solutions to the problem.

At the 4th Street Baptist Church, the Owensboro Community Collaboration Task Force met to discuss the increasing rates of gun violence in the city.

Since the start of the year, more than 15 shootings have taken place in Owensboro, an alarming number for the city, and a city group discussed what can be done to help reduce these rates of amusing violence, by especially those from miners in the city.

“Come into it with a village mentality and really involve the community in this issue, in partnership with the families and the children involved, in partnership with the police and the justice system, so that we can help these children,” Mandy said. .
