Before starting his padayatra on April 14, the BJP head of state said he had reports that TRS workers would attack him to stop him walking. In yesterday’s clash, TRS workers rushed towards Sanjay but were prevented by police from reaching the saffron party leader.

Meanwhile, BJP General Secretary G Premender Reddy claimed that TRS workers damaged 10 vehicles in the convoy accompanying the party chairman and that at least 20 BJP workers were injured. “We have filed a complaint with the police, who have not yet registered a case,” he said.

However, incumbent TRS Chairman and State IT Minister KT Rama Rao has refuted allegations that his party activists attacked BJP activists during the padayatra.

“There is no need for our party workers to attack Sanjay’s padayatra. The local people could have asked him about the failures of the central government,” he said.
