The Karnataka Hijab Row continues to gain momentum on social media as well-known international personalities start to join the conversation. After Nobel Peace Prize winner and Pakistani women’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai and Manchester United footballer Paul Pogba, model Bella Hadid also took to her official social media and called the decision ‘ridiculous’ to ban the hijab.

Criticizing the discrimination faced by Muslim women in India, France and other countries, Hadid shared some screenshots of headlines from global coverage on the hijab ban and wrote, “I urge France, India, Quebec, Belgium and all other countries in the world that discriminate against Muslim women, to rethink the decisions you have made or are trying to make in the future regarding a body that It’s not your job to tell women what they should or shouldn’t wear, especially when it comes to faith and safety.”
In another post, the 25-year-old model also highlighted the abuse Muslim women face in the facial world. “While we see growing appreciation for hijabs and coverings in fashion, we also need to recognize the cycle of abuse that Muslim women of all different ethnicities in fashion routinely encounter in fashion houses, in especially in Europe and America,” Hadid added.

Indian actress Sonam Kapoor, who previously shared her views on the ongoing hijab row, is one of the more high-profile names to like Bella Hadid’s post. While the High Court has banned students from wearing the hijab in educational institutions until a final verdict is issued, the ongoing protest continues to escalate and capture global attention.
